Parkinson's Disease Parkinson's Disease Treatment

Early-onset Parkinson's disease is treated differently than later-onset disease.

People with early-onset Parkinson's disease are more likely to begin treatment with a dopamine agonist, which cause side effects like hallucinations and lightheadedness, and are not tolerated well by older patients. Additionally, levodopa, the more traditional treatment used in older patients, causes more severe dyskinesias, lack of coordination, in young patients.
