People with Parkinson's disease should have a fiber-rich diet

Parkinson's disease is a nervous system disorder that may affect the movement of waste through the GI tract. In addition, some people with Parkinson's disease have difficulty moving around, which can sometimes contribute to constipation. It can be tough negotiating steps to a bathroom and just the physical act of getting up out of a chair or bed can be a problem. As a result, people may avoid drinking enough fluids, which can help with constipation, to avoid trips to the bathroom. Therefore patients need a diet rich in fiber to counteract any constipation.
