Weight loss surgery can reverse many medical conditions

People who choose surgery to achieve weight loss can lose between 50 to75 percent of their excess weight two years after surgery. This can eliminate, reverse or greatly reduce a large number of serious medical conditions including type 2 diabetes, stroke, cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, hypertension, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), respiratory problems, sleep apnea, joint pain, gallstones, high cholesterol, liver disease, asthma and depression. It can also lower the risk for certain types of cancer including breast, colon and prostate and can have a large impact on a person's social, psychosocial and economic well-being.
